The Service Itself
My role as a Celebrant is to help you create a beautiful, bespoke memorial service to reflect your loved one’s time here on earth, and reflect upon their life, loves, cherished memories and achievements.
Funerals are a distressing and sad time in life because we are saying goodbye to someone we love, but, they do not have to be solemn and without humour and hope. After all, someone who has been fun, and a happy person, would surely want that reflected during their final goodbye. Whatever the character of the loved one whose life we are remembering, I will endeavour to capture the real essence of your loved one and work with you to create a bespoke ‘Celebration of Life’ service, that truly honours them and reflects their personality and life.
Having a celebrant-led ceremony means your ceremony can take place anywhere and anytime you choose. Nowadays there are options; perhaps you are considering something a bit different to the traditional (30-minute) service held at a crematorium, which could be a small private service just for immediate family to say goodbye, or perhaps a 'pure cremation'.
Followed by a ‘Celebration of Life’ service held in a place which is special to you and your family, joined by friends in more pleasant surroundings to celebrate your loved one’s life, allowing more time to recall and share memories, followed by the ‘wake’.
Whatever type of service is most appropriate for you, it is important to me to help you through this difficult time and create a positive experience, which is meaningful and can help turn a traumatic time into something more bearable, it must have your loved one, you and your family at the centre of it.
Preparing for the Service
As a funeral celebrant, I will arrange a visit to your family home (or preferred venue in Kent UK) to talk with you and your family to get a true sense of your loved one who has passed away. Bringing along empathy, warmth, positivity, and humour (as appropriate), after which I will be able to write a tribute which reflects and meaningfully honours your loved one’s life, by listening to your stories, experiences, and memories.
If you wish, I can provide guidance in choosing readings, poems and music for a fitting funeral service. I can create a unique Eulogy through the art of ‘Story telling’, tailored to the time allowance for the service.
Every life, no matter how long or short is unique, and the celebration and remembrance of that life should be unique as well.
Once written and placed in order of service, I will forward it to you for your review and approval, and make any adjustments that you may require.
Following the Service
Following the service, a copy of the script created
for the ‘Celebration of Life’ service will be given to you,
especially printed and presented in a clear presentation envelope,
as a keepsake for your memory box.
